Taos Healing and Reconciliation Project

The Taos Healing and Reconciliation Project is a 4-year pilot project which aims to heal racial divides in Taos, New Mexico building upon the strong cultural heritage by offering  traditional Indigenous healing and reconciliation techniques through Community Health Fairs and gatherings. Read more from our M&E report.  Our work is developed by a team of organizers and planners local to Taos. See the Taos Team page.

The Healing and Reconciliation Institute focus' efforts on members of the Hispanic [sometimes self-defined as Latino] and Taos Pueblo communities between the ages of 18-24 with long familial ties to the region or culture, along with their families.

Continuous efforts are spent on trauma-informed healing services to the community, a culturally appropriate form of a Mesoamerican healing technique called Curanderismo. Curanderismo is a holistic style of medicine that addresses many ailments without a distinction of a physical/mental divide.
